Producer Bellamkonda Suresh has come up with yet another mass entertainer. It has 4 new stars and the usual; 6-song-5-fights routine. But the difference here is director Ramesh Varma’s presentation. What lets the movie down badly is a poor script. The “one-bike-sold-to-two-guys” is a wafer-thin premise for a storyline.

What is it about : The movie starts of showing Mahesh’s well-knit family. Mahesh (Tanish) takes up the responsibility of the family after his dad’s retirement. During his work he falls in love with Rani (Shweta Basu Prasad). Then the storyline takes another track and Arjun (Nani) is introduced. Arjun is a typical college going lad and the son of a miserly father. Arjun falls for his classmate Pooja (Aksha). Arjun and Mahesh meet courtesy Mahesh’s stolen bike, which he finds in Arjun’s hands. The rest of the story turns around this bike with a few unexpected twists and turns and a few hilarious scenes by our all time entertainer Brahmanandam. Music director Hemchandra provides a few peppy tunes that might go down well with the youngsters. Actor Navadeep provides a pleasant cameo.

What is Good: Tanish performance is decent. Nani’s performance, given the poor script is commendable. His dialogue delivery is good. Tanish as the responsible son Mahesh is better than in Nacchavule. Songs are worth listening to once and the remix track of “ danchave menattha kuthura “ peps the mood of the mass audience in its second half. The bond of friendship was highlighted in the film rather than the usual bond of love. The comedy scenes involving dharmavarapu subrahmanyam provide some relief. An action-filled climax saves the second half, but barely.

What is bad: A weak script. You can’t make a two hour plus movie on the premise of “one-bike-sold-to-two-guys”. The female leads are sidelined in the second half until the climax. The movie lacks the adrenaline that a title like “Ride” would necessitate. If anything the movie slows down after the first half and the entire second half it barely moves. The heroine shwetha basu bores the audience by repeating the ‘ori nayano’ dialogue quite frequently. A poor script meant that that the songs had to be inserted. The editing is very jerky and immature. The cinematography is not up to the mark especially in the fight sequences.

Me Thinks: Give it a miss. However if you want to watch a roadie type movie in Tollywood, take your chances.

Tailpiece: Bellamkonda Suresh needs scale and grandeur. A producer who is used to working with mass heroes like Balakrishna seems to be at sea while working with small heroes. If my assessment is correct he will find this “ride” a bit bumpy.
