Young actor Chaitanya has had a decent exposure in acting in the movie ‘Sneha Geetham’. Aksha won some hearts with her performances in ‘Yuvatha’ and ‘Ride’. Both Aksha and Chaitanya pair up for ‘Adi Nuvve’ which has been released today. Director Neelam Veera Prasad gets a chance to showcase his skills in what looks like a feel good love story of a young couple. 123telugu.com takes a look at the film for you!

What’s it about: Mohan is a hard working Government Employee who also works part time in various jobs. His son Ravi Teja (Chaitanya) realizes the importance of his dad’s hard work as a kid and grows up as a very responsible engineering graduate. On the day he’s on his way to the American Consulate for a Visa Interview, he overhears Sameera (Aksha) talking to her friends in the same way he generally does. He looks at her, continues staring at her and misses the interview at the Consulate. Obviously he has fallen in love.

While his parents are supportive that he will get a Visa later, Ravi Teja finds out that the girl is a dance school student. Ravi joins the same class and strikes a friendship with Sameera. Soon the boy admits his love for the girl. But Sameera rejects his love, saying that she is already in love!

It is the decision that Ravi Teja takes after this incident, and how he finds the girl’s love that forms the rest of the story, with of course - a twist.

What is Good: The starting few scenes, involving Ravi Teja’s dad and his philosophy about life, make an impact right away. The dad’s character has been written very well, though on the whole it is a very small one. The actor who did that role did a good job too.

Chaitanya’s character reflects his dad’s philosophy and also the aspirations of today’s youth. He dances his way into the character. Aksha does a fair job, and she uses her innocent looks to emote well.

Master Bharath is turning out to be a good talent, where he manages to entertain even in non-required scenes purely because of his timing and acting. The first half of the movie runs decently well with other good actors like Naresh, Vennela Kishore and Hema chipping in.

What is bad: The second half has got serious problems. It seems as if the director has been forced to include a mass number, an item number, and a cheesy climax etc. Also the second half takes few cues from the films like ‘Dil To Pagal Hain’ and ‘Rab Ne Banadi Jodi’ which makes it very predictable. The marriage situation towards the climax could have been avoided completely, as the main story ends much before it.

The director takes cinematic liberties to show case the chemistry between boy and girl, which doesn’t connect to the audiences. The characters of Vennela Kishore, Brahmanandam, a eunuch, a girl wearing dresses with low necklines and high hemlines, etc., end up adding only time to the film’s length.

Technical Departments: From the first go, it is P.G.Vinda’s cinematography that is stunning. He does an amazing job. Even the rich quality of ‘colour grading’ shows on screen. Music manages to entertain. The choreography in the second half songs could have been better, but the film does elevate Chaitanya as a dancer. Editing is decent and dialogues are good in places.

The director will learn a lot from this attempt. If he can sustain the consistency in his main characters like he does with side characters, he will come out with flying colours. Also in a romantic comedy the hero’s or heroine’s sidekicks always need to be very connectable. Eg: ‘Geetanjali’ (all characters), ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ (Krishnudu), ‘Anand’ (Anish Kuruvilla and Satya). The hero’s sidekicks in ‘Adi Nuvve’ come in only when they are required for only screenplay writers’ convenience.

Final Point: ‘Adi Nuvve’ isn’t a great youngsters’ film, but it has got its fine points and it’s got a well disguised message too. While not many would appreciate the way the second half goes, the first half does manage to entertain.
